Earrings by Judith Viorst

This week we talked about writing a persuasive letter. Our teacher read a book to us called Earrings. A little girl is trying to persuade her parents to let her get her ears pierced. She promises to be nice to her brother, have better posture, clean up her room, walk the dog for a year, and read a book every week. She thinks she needs earrings because everyone else has them, and it will make her look and feel good.
We learned that we don't always get what we want.
You should read this book to find out if the little girl gets her ears pierced.

Have a great weekend!

The Inca Empire

This week Mrs. Braymer's class read a book called The Incas. First, we learned that the Inca Empire was located in South America in the Andes Mountains. Next, we read about some of the Inca Kings and how they ruled the people. Then, Mrs. Braymer's class read about how the Inca lived their everyday lives. Finally, we learned about Spanish conquistadors who took over the Inca Empire.

Did you know that back in the Inca Empire they had messengers called "runners" instead of mailmen?

LETS

This week, Officer Coyle from the Mesquite Police Department came and talked to us about the six categories of drugs. He showed us pictures of other police officers, their training, and his family. He also showed us his "duty" belt and all the stuff that is on it.  We've been talking a lot about how drugs (including cigarettes and alcohol) are dangerous and can kill you.
We want to know if Miss Botrager's class is doing LETS right now.
